Pragmatic study is a cognitive activity and a social activity as well. Theories applied in studies on pragmatic development including acculturation model, cognitive processing, sociocultural theory, language socialization, and interactional competence explain that pragmatic learning cannot escape from the influence of language learners' affect, cognitive ability, and interactional competence due to the nature of pragmatic learning.
The third section introduces two theories involved in this investigation. One is Krashen's Affective Filter Hypothesis in the Monitor Model and the other is Schuman's Psychological Distance in Acculturation Model.
This thesis, based on the theory of inter-cultural communication, studies the cultural adaptation in foreign language learning in senior schools, analyzes the current situation and existing problems of cultural education in English language teaching, and proposes the strategies to develop the students' cultural awareness and adaptability.
The paper analyzes the two ways to improve reading comprehension ability in English teaching and learning from the two aspects which are the combination of "quality" and "quantity" and the combination of increasing input and acculturation. The relationship between the two aspects is that the input hypothesis indicates the importance of "quantity" and the acculturation model reflects the change regularity of "quality".
The survey sample consists of thirty Chinese overseas students (mean age = 26.9), who are currently studying in America for their bachelor’s, master’s or doctor’s degree. The mean duration of their sojourn in America is 2.8 years.
An initial theory frame of lead-in cross culture in English teaching is discussed. Therefore,the author proposes a model of experience and adaptive multiculture in English teaching which will provide the learners with an authentic learning environment so that they will acquire the language by experiencing,adjusting and adapting themselves to multiculture.

This paper deals with the main contents and characteristics of three foreign language learning modes: The Monitor Model, The Acculturation Model and The Socio-educational Model. Their similarities and differences are compared and analyzed. The discussion of the three modes has some important implications for our classroom foreign language teaching and learning.
