The result showed that pb~(2+) at a concentration of more than 10~(-5)M in vitro could inhibit the immune phagocytosis of PAM and that the degree of inhibition positively corresponded to the concentration of the heavy metal ion in vitro. Comparison of the phagocytic indices determined by ~(51)Cr-labelling technique with those obtained by conventional visual assay did not show noticeable difference, (F=0.41, P>0.05 ) but relatively speaking, the former is simple,rapid,precise and objective.
