Upon the interface of homogenuous isotropic elastic media the incident longitudinal wave produces the reflected longitudinal (P-P) wave and upgoing converted shear (P-SV)wave.
Through synthetical error analysis,we can get the average longitudinal wave velocity in the crust of the basin approximate 6.197km/s(corresponding t0 is 10.676s),and the basement's approximate 6.75km/s.
The result shows that before the M_S5.4 and M_S5.1 of Xiuyan earthquakes, the corner frequency ratio f_(cp)/f_(cs) of longitudinal wave and transverse wave all have obvious dropping anomaly before the 2 fairly large earthquakes. This anomaly will be the reference of future earthquake forecast and the basis of foreshock judgment.
The casing wave and formation compressional wave can be differentiated by the waveform difference between open hole and cased hole, and the formation compressional wave can be extracted by a STC(slowness-time coherence) method.
However at p = 3.0 GPa, t =529-816°C, p =4.0 GPa, t =537-807°C, p =5.0 GPa, t =607-802°C,with increasing temperature,compressional wave velocities in trachy basalt increase,which is not expected for a solid.
Compressional wave velocities in trachy basalt collected from Tazhuang,Fujian Province are measured at high pressure (up to 5.0 GPa) and high temperature (up to 1 350°C).
Remarkable infrasound wave trains have been recorded at Beijing Infrasound Observatory at 21:21 BT (Beijing Time) on July 12, 1993. It is a complete set of local waves (including primary wave, shear wave and Rayleigh waves) and epicenter infrasound waves caused by an earthquake in Japan.
It turned out that an abrupt rise in both the longitudinal wave damping and the flux of acoustic emission is caused by the motion of dislocation clusters and indicate the onset of plastic deformation.
Expressions for the pressure of a reflected longitudinal wave on the receiving transducer are obtained in a scalar approximation and in a general case.
An effective medium method is developed for the slightly compressible elastic media permeated with air-filled bubbles, according to the nonlinear oscillation of the bubble, which happens when compressional wave travels through the porous media.
The effects of the compressional wave velocity, shear wave velocity, and density of each layer on zigzag dispersion curves and the relationship of the low velocity layers to zigzag dispersion curves are also investigated in detail.
Compressional wave velocities in a trachybasalt, from Yichuan County, Henan Province, have been measured at 2.0 GPa and up to 1 350°C in a YJ-3000 t cubic-anvil highpressure apparatus.
A new technique for testing long-range order in high-absorption anisotropic crystals has been developed using conversion of an incident p-(s-)wave to an s-(p-)wave due to optical anisotropy.
A theory of the de Haas-van Alphen effect in type-II p-wave and D-wave superconductors (the latter corresponds to the B1g one-dimensional representation of group D4h) has been developed.
Simple expressions are derived for calculating the amplitudes of the diffracted waves in the case where the angle of incidence of the primary wave coincides with the Bragg angle.
The asymptotic formation of a backward wave is demonstrated, whose amplitude may exceed that of the primary wave for parameters typical of a semiconductor.
This effect, first studied by Ginzburg and Pekar, shows up most vividly in the emergence of new waves that have the same polarization as the primary wave but different wavevectors.
