The number of man—made objects orbiting around the earthhas become so high that collision risks have to be taken into account inthe mission planing and operation of spacecraft,especially of manned spa-cecrafts. In this paper,the scenarios for the future development of spacedebris and collision probabilities are derived. A further steady increase ofthe basic population would always lead to and speed up a chain reactioncollisions.

This paper deals with the problem of space debris generation, hazard and the spacecraft shielding. The main achievements in the area, including the basic concepts, theoretical models and shielding designs are briefly described. The topics in the future study and their importance in the engineering are also stated.

空间碎片的形成、危害及航天器防护等问题进行了讨论,简述了该领域内的研究成果,包括基本概念、理论模型和设计方案,并对今后空间碎片研究的重要性和研究的内容进行了分析。
