Guanyinge Reservoir is located at 40 km upstream of Benxi City on the main stream of Taizihe River of Liaoning Provice. The dam is situated on the inverted beds at the left of Quanshui Synclines which is regarded as complex zone. The 6th damsite which has a impervious rock layer is selected. The dam axis is curved along the impervious rock layer strike. The characteristics of roller compacted dam-concrete techniques are considered in the project layout.

辽宁省观音阁水库位于本溪市上游40km的太子河干流上,地处泉水向斜西翼倒转地层上,构造复杂,岩溶发育.在勘探选址工作中,先后选择了6个坝址,经筛选分析和进一步比较,最终选择在坝基下具有相对隔水层作为防渗边界和底线的第六坝址.坝轴线沿相对隔水层的岩层走向为折线.枢纽布置考虑了采用碾压混凝土筑坝方法的特点.大坝为碾压混凝土重力坝,由挡水、溢流、底孔及电站四种坝段组成.坝基下防渗帷幕长1036m,左岸坝外142m与相对隔水层连接,右岸为悬挂式帷幕,总防渗帷幕长1627m.
