Taking into account the limitation of the traditional method for establishing the limiting height of a waste dump,the action of the load from a waste dump on a flate surface soil substrate is studied,and a general method and formula for establishing the limiting height of a waste dump and the formulas for calculating critical thickness h_0 of surface soil are developed in this paper. This would promote the application of high bench waste dumping technique. It is pointed out that the traditional method for calculating the limiting height based on the thickness of a top soil substrate and its deformation is a special example of the above general method.Finally a successful example is cited for Qijiagou waste dump with a 400 m bench height.

针对确定排土场极限堆高方法的缺陷,论述了排土场荷载作用下平缓表土基底的作用机制,导出了临界表土厚度h_0的算式及排土场极限高度确定的通用方法与计算公式,指出了目前沿用基底表土层承载能力与变形确定极限高度的方法只是其中特例,促进了高台阶排土技术。文中还辅以研究确定七架沟排土场400m高台阶的成功实例。
