As a nondestructive analytical technique, FT-Raman spectroscopy can be used widely in the analyses of polymeric and complex biological materials. In this paper. We reviewed some fluorsecence-free FT-Raman sprctra obtained from polyurethane elastomer, polyimide, chicken sclera, normal and cataractous human eye lenses and various woody tissues. Characteristic Raman lines for each of the major components of these materials are identified, which establish near-IR FT-Raman spectroscopy as a unique analytical tool in polymer, biology and medicine.
