Critics hold different views o n the division of the post-war literary history in Taiwan. The division of lite rature by the decade is the most common, and has been criticized the most frequently. And each subjectively analytical account has its own insight into some aspects and has its advantages and disadvantages. As for Taiwan's new literature that lasts for approximately a century, the quest ion of how it should be divided into stages, or how to present it, requires furt her reflections, reconsiderations and joint efforts before the most desirable wa y can be found that can best cover the entire history of the new literature in T aiwan.

台湾新文学史的叙述向来难摆脱民族、政治的纠葛,或以政治上的反共、解严为依据,或以文学思潮上的写实、现代、后现代为依据,或以文学社团的成立为依据。本文仅对目前可见的几种分期,加以描述,并略做检讨。日据时期的台湾新文学分期,不应该被简单划分为一个殖民统治时期,目前较普遍的一个分法,是将日据台湾新文学划分为三阶段,第三阶段从1937年中日进入战争前夕到日本战败的1945年,几乎没有异议。战后台湾新文学史的分期,各论者亦有不同的看法及理论依据,最为常见的是以十年为断的分期法。唯每一种主观的论述,各照一隅,互有得失,台湾近百年的新文学究竟该如何分期、如何叙述,有待于作进一步反思。

The paper narrates the novel creation of Yang Kui who is one of the most important writerin“mature period”and“waring period”of new literaturein Taiwan.The author considers that Yang Kui promote Taiwan's new literature to a new level by his novel creation with its high ideological content.

本文论述了台湾新文学“成熟期”与“战争期”的最重要的作家之一──杨逵的小说创作。笔者认为杨逵的小说创作以高度的思想性将台湾新文学提高到一个新的水平。
