Starting with expounding the importance of English vocabulary teaching in colleges of China, this paper points out the disadvantages of the traditional approaches in vocabulary teaching and puts forwards some scientific and systematic methods of improving it. The ultimate aim is to help the students enlarge their vocabulary and use it flexibly.

首先阐述了词汇教学在大学英语教学中的重要性,针对传统大学英语词汇教学方式缺乏科学性与系统性,学生不能很好的吸收与利用的问题,提出了改善词汇教学的两种方式:一是平衡教师的输入与学生的输出,促进学生对所学知识的运用;二是运用现代词汇教学的相关理论知识帮助学生有效的积累词汇。包括根据词的结构特征记忆单词,在特定的语境中掌握词用法及各种搭配,借助于与词汇相关的文化背景知识了解其本质含义,从而增强学生的文化意识及灵活表达自我的能力。
