(4.1).In order to demonstrate that the applications of new concepts may be lead to unexpected results, this paper proposes a new theory of strength called rational theory of strength. This theory does not adopt any semi-empirical assumption of material failure, instead, this theory indicates that it can use the results of finite failure testings to predict the strength at any state of stresses. As shown in Eqs. (6.4) and (6.5), it can use two theorems as failure criterion and strength criterion of all homogeneous, anisotropic and ideal elastic body.
