Complexity of system is not only the complexity of difference, but also the complexity of identity. Complexity of system identity, identity distribution, and identity structure the three lead to the complexity of scientific phenomena and laws, complexity of time and space in scientific area and complexity of time and space in science development.

围绕“科学终结论”所展开的讨论,使我们看到科学本身是复杂的,因此,需要探讨科学本身的复杂性。由于任何事物都可以看成一个系统,因而研究科学本身的复杂性,就必然要研究系统的复杂性。系统的复杂既是差异性的复杂,也是同一性的复杂。系统的同一性、同一性分布和同一性结构的复杂使科学表现出了科学现象和规律的复杂性、科学领域的时空复杂性和科学发展的时空复杂性。在此基础上,分析了“科学终结论”出现的原因,认为“科学终结论”的产生是由于人们基于一种简单的同一性思维方式,因而是对于科学的复杂性认识不足所致。最后,对当代科学发展的广阔空间进行了简略的分析。
