    On the basis of a great number of coal petrology documents available the paper gives a relatively systematic and complete description to petrographic characteristics and genesis types of coal in China from all coal-forming ages, and than an introduction about the applications of chinese coal petrology in the following fields: genesis of coal-forming materials, coal metamorphic and quality features, correlation of seams, coking technology, determination of preparability and liquescency, genetic-technical classification of bituminous coals, prediction of paleogeotherm and hydrocarbon-bearing areas, formation mechanism of coal formed gas as well as some problems existing in these fields. In general coal petrology, it was stated that work principally includes the classification and nomenclature of coal types and macerals, the study of their fundamental characteristics, and the establishment of their test methods and regulation standarts, Some suggestions are also made concerning the further development of chinese coal petrology. i. e, taking account of applied techniques, strengthenning summation of data, working out necessary programms and establishing norm standarts.

    文章在搜集截至目前为止的大量煤岩学实际资料的基础上,比较系统和完整地阐述了我国各时代煤的煤岩特征及其成因类型;介绍了国内煤岩在研究煤物质的成因,煤的变质和煤质特征、煤层对比、炼焦工艺、确定煤的可选性和液化性、烟煤的成因——工业分类、预测古地温、含油气区及研究煤成气产生机理等方面的应用情况及存在的某些问题;文章还介绍了在普通煤岩学方面,我们的主要工作包括煤类型与其显微组成的划分、命名和其基本性质的研究以及方法试验、规程标准的制订等。文中提出了进一步发展我国煤岩学的几条意见,即重视应用技术、建立标准规范、加强资料总结、制订必要规划。
