The trial load method is now still a method in common use for arch dams. Although computer is used for it now, it has some intrinsic drawbacks. It requires a complicated program and a big memory capacity and consumes much CPU time. If the basic principles of trial load method are retained while the concept of FEM is used to organize the computation, then the program will be simplifed, the memory capacity and the CPU time will be reduced[1-4].In this paper further steps are taken to improve the trial load method...

The trial load method is now still a method in common use for arch dams. Although computer is used for it now, it has some intrinsic drawbacks. It requires a complicated program and a big memory capacity and consumes much CPU time. If the basic principles of trial load method are retained while the concept of FEM is used to organize the computation, then the program will be simplifed, the memory capacity and the CPU time will be reduced[1-4].In this paper further steps are taken to improve the trial load method by the concept of FEM. The stiffness matrices of arch element and cantilever element of variable sections are derived. A method is given to analyse the cantilever of twisted shape. There are 8 unknowns at each node: 4 nodal displacements and 4 loadings allotted to the cantilever. ADAS (Arch dam analyse system), a program based on the mixed coding method, has very strong ability, high efficiency and reduce the memory capacity, It can analyse almost all types of arch dam, such as circle of single center or multi-centers, parabola, ellipse, hyperbola or logarithmic spire. Experience shows that the speed of ADAS is 5-6 times faster than the program based on the trial load method.

当前拱坝趋向于采用变厚度、非圆形(如抛物线、对数螺旋线)的水平剖面,以改善坝体稳定和应力。本文提出这类拱坝的应力分析方法。用弹性中心法给出了变厚度拱单元和梁单元刚度矩阵和加载矩阵的显式、并给出了扭曲梁单元的分析方法。在保留试载法基本假定的前提下,用有限元方法的概念组织计算。利用本文公式编制的ADAS程序,可以计算变厚度的多心圆、抛物线、双曲线、椭圆、对数螺旋线、单曲、双曲的各种形式的拱坝,而且内存少、精度高、速度快。
