The advantages of the electromagnetic gun and the possibility to form a new type of defensive weapon system based upon the electromagnetic gun are analyzed. Furthermore the feasibility of using the electromagnetic gun as weapons against aircraft, tanks, satellites, tactical missiles, strategic ballistic missiles, etc. is discussed. The electromagnetic propulsion technology will play an importent role in the future development of the space technology and national economy. The author believes that, along with its maturity and wide application, the electromagnetic propulsion technology will have a considerable significance not inferior to the use of the rocket propulsion technology.
