The molecular weight distribution by sedimentation velocity measurements and hydrostatic pressure correction for the sedimentation coefficient of the floating system poly-dimethylsiloxane-bromocyclohexane at θ-temperature (28 ℃) have been studied. A new method for the experimental evaluation of the hydrostatic pressure correction of the sedimentation coefficient is proposed. By using different quantities of the solution added to the sedimentation cell, so as to give different heights of the liquid column, it is possible to determine the influence of the hydrostatic pressure on the sedimentation coefficient. Assuming a linear relation between the sedimentation coefficient and the hydrostatic pressure, the authors found that the pressure coefficient of the system studied is 1.44×10-3 (atm)-1 for hydrostatic pressures less than 200 atm.From the distribution of sedimentation coefficients, and the values of Mw, [η]θ, and [η] toluene of a polydimethylsiloxane fraction the monodisperse relationships s-M, [η]θ-M, in the θ-solvent at 28℃ and [η]tolucne-M at 25℃ are obtained:s1 = 6.30 × 10-16M0.50 (bromocyclohexane, 28℃) [η]θ = 7.41 × 10-2 M0.50 (bromocyclohexane, 28℃) [η] = 9.53 × 10-3 M0.71 (toluene, 25℃)

In this paper, based on the assumption that the critical depth may occur at or near the crest of any form of weirs, a theoretically appro-ximate formula for more accurate evaluation of the transition from weir flow to orifice flow has been derived as:e/H=1.28 β(σ_s·ε·m)~(2/3)in which, e=gate opening in meters,H=head over a crest in meters,m=coefficent of discharge,β=an empirical correcting factor for the critical depth,σ_s=decrease in coefficient of discharge in percent due to downstream submergemce.As a result of a preliminary investigation, the correcting factor β ranging from 0.9+0.01H to 1.0+0.01H is recommended depending on the relative position of gate to the crest of a weir. In order to make β dimensionless, H should be 3.28 ft in English unit system. By applying the theoretical formula and the empirical factor to the computation of 31 prototype and experimental test data from 6 existing sluice gates and overflow dam weirs both at home and abroad, a satisfactory verification has been resulted with relative errors ranging from≤±3% for 19 tests (61% of the total tests) to≤+5% for 29 tests (94%), and the maximum relative error being ±6% for only 2 tests.It is concluded that the derived formula and the recommended empi-rical factor are accurate enough for practical application to evaluate the transition from weir flow to orifice flow.

本文根据临界水深通过堰顶附近的假定,导出了由堰流向孔流过渡的理论界限表达式:(式中符号参看正文注解)e/H=1.28β(σ_s·ε·m)~(2/3)实际上由于闸孔相对予堰顶的位置,随不同工程的布置而异;即使同一工程如采用弧形闸门,随闸门的不同开启度,其所构成的闸孔相对于堰顶的位置也有所不同.故理论界限式中还须引进一个临界水深综合改正系数β,以得出近似解.根据初步研究,β的变幅一般情况下在β=(0.90~1.00)+0.01H之间.据此,验算了国内外六个工程31个有效组次,误差≤±3%者达61%,≤±5%者达94%,最大误差≤±6%者仅两组.故所提理论界限式的近似解,可供工程计算上参考应用.
