A practical technique to obtain six—component seismic input is presented. In the technique the concept of earthquake field is introduced, and two factors, wave passage and foundation dimension, are considered to derive six—component motion of a rigid foundation from three—component earthquake records. The foundation motion can be used as exciting input for the analysis of superstructural seismic response.
