A device for enlarging nuclear track in dielectric material bymeans of electrochemical etching has been deyeloped in our laboratory.Theelectronic system of the device is designed to operate over the frequency range from 50 to 5000Hz with a sinusoidal output of variable voltage(0—1100V).Polycarbonate foil is used as a track detector,neutron inducedrecoil tracks can be recorded in it.Basic parameters of track etching,forexample,the strength of feild,the frequency,the etching duration and theconcentration of etchant...

A device for enlarging nuclear track in dielectric material bymeans of electrochemical etching has been deyeloped in our laboratory.Theelectronic system of the device is designed to operate over the frequency range from 50 to 5000Hz with a sinusoidal output of variable voltage(0—1100V).Polycarbonate foil is used as a track detector,neutron inducedrecoil tracks can be recorded in it.Basic parameters of track etching,forexample,the strength of feild,the frequency,the etching duration and theconcentration of etchant have been studied.For 180μm polycarbonate foil,the neutron sensitivity,the energy dependance,the directional response,the stability of etched tracks and the background have been estimated.Theoptimum etching conditions obtained are as followsthe strength of feild:13.5kV/cmthe frequency:2.SKH.6N KOH at room temperature for 6 hours.Under above mentioned conditions,the following perfomances of etch-ing track are obtained.The mean diameter of etched track is about 50μm.The sensitiveties for ~(252)Cf and Am-Be neutron sources are 0.27×10~(-6)and1.8×10~(-6)(tracks/neutron)respectively,while for monoenegetic neutrons of4.0 MeV and 14.8 MeV,the values are 2.2x10~(-6)and 3.7×10~(-6)(tracks/neutron)respectively.The density of background tracks is about 8 tracks/cm~2(after pre-etching).The electrochemical etching technique has the basicadvantage of facilitating etched track to be clearly seen by enlarging thesize of discharged pit,which makes the track counting simplier and quickerand more reliable.

我们研制了一台供扩大固体内核径迹用的电化学蚀刻装置。它可以输出电压和频率皆可调的正弦波(电压0—1100伏,频率50—5000赫)。采用聚碳酸酯膜记录快中子引起的反冲核径迹。对径迹蚀刻的几个主要参量如电场强度、频率、蚀刻时间和蚀刻液的浓度等进行了研究,还对聚碳酸酯的中子灵敏度、能量响应、方向响应、径迹稳定性及本底进行了测量。对于180微米厚的聚碳酸酯膜,实验确定的最佳蚀刻条件为:电场强度13.5千伏/厘米,电场交变频率2.5千赫,6N KOH,15℃,5小时。在此条件下,电化学蚀刻的快中子反冲径迹平均直径约为50微米;对~(252)Cf、AmBe、4.0和14.8兆电子伏中子的灵敏度分别是2.7×10~(-7)、1.8×10~(-6)、2.2×10~(-6)和3.7×10~(-6)(径迹/中子);经预蚀刻的本底径迹密度约为8(径迹/厘米~2)。实验表明,固体核径迹探测器电化学蚀刻方法的显著优点是,它能把反冲核径迹放大成清晰可见的放电蚀坑,从而使径迹测量变得相当简单、快速和可靠。

The method is reported of preparing a new CR-39 nuclear track detector, polymerized from the liquid monomer allyl diglycol carbonate (ADC) and the initiator bengoyl per-oxide (BPO). It is shown that bulk etch rate VB=1.37μm/h, relative sensitivity Va/VB= 1.77, and background track density B = 9.8×10-3 track/mm2. The merits of this CR-39 detector are low cost, low background track density and good sensitivity, uniformity and stability.

用二甘醇双烯丙基碳酸脂(ADC)和过氧化苯甲酸(BPO),经本体热固聚合,研制了一种新型CR-39固体核径迹探测器,它的体蚀刻速度V_B=1.37μm/h,相对灵敏度V_a·V~(-1)_B=1.77,本底径迹密度B=9.8×10~(-5)径迹·mm~(-2)。它具有高灵敏度、低本底以及均匀、稳定的性能。

Experiments of using home made CR-39 films to register alpha-particles were carried out. After exposing the CR-39 film to an alpha source, distinct tree-like tracks on the foil had been found by using reasonable chemical and electrochemical etching treatment. Under the identical exposure condition, there was a linear relationship between alpha-particle fluence and track density. The relative register efficiency was 20% and average background tracks 0.2/mm2.

选用国产CR-39测量α粒子的实验研究结果表明:该材料经α标准源照射后,加以化学预蚀刻、电化学蚀刻,可得到清晰的树状径迹。在入射条件一致情况下,α粒子注量与产生的径迹密度呈线性关系。相对探测效率为20%。平均本底径迹为0.2个/mm~2。
