By using a vertical coordinate transformation technique and finite difference scheme, the author developed a mathematical model of suspended sediment movement caused by tidal current. In order to increase the model stability and decrease the numerical diffusion, the convective terms of the convectiondiffusion equation of suspended sediment were discretized with a thirdorder upwind scheme. The model was employed to carry out numerical simulations of suspended sediment movement in the Lingdingyang Bay during dry and flood seasons. A good agreement was found between the measured data and computed results. Analyses of the computed results showed that the suspended sediment movement mainly existed in the West Shoal, which had little effect on the Lingdingyang channel. The results also showed that the suspended sediment content in flood season is higher than that in dry season, a gradient of suspended sediment content existed in the vertical direction, and the gradient in flood season is larger than that in dry season.

Based upon the time-line interpolation scheme,a numerical solution of the equations that govern unsteady-fluid flow in closed pipelines is developed.The interpolations are made along the time-line with varying reach-back time distance,rather than the more widely used spatial interpolations.The numerical experiment verification has indicated much less damping in the application of the method of characteristics than the corresponding spatial interpolation scheme at the same discretization.

针对瞬变流的基本微分方程,应用特征差分方法,建立了管道有压流的数值模型。结点上的变量值采用时间序列回退内插的新的插值格式,而不是传统的空间内插方法。数值试验表明,文中提出的数值模型所产生的数值耗散很小。
