A novel symmetric optical coupling structure for realizing double-channel rotary interconnection is proposed and a passive double-channel fibre-optic rotary connector is designed by application of this structure. An optical signal emitted by a self-focusing lens will be passed through free space and received by another self-focusing lens. The rotary connection can be carried out in free space and bi-direction transmission of optical signal can be performed. Through analyzing the design principle of the optical structure and optical path calculation, it is found that when the ratio between the focal lengths for two lens is 20~50 and off-axis distance is in the range of 4~10mm, the interference will not be occurred between two optical channels and signal transmission can be lasted.

提出一种实现双通道旋转互连的新型对称光学耦合结构,并应用光学结构设计出无源双通道光纤旋转连接器。利用自聚焦透镜发射光信号,使其通过自由空间传输,被另一个自聚焦透镜接收。在自由空间可以实现旋转连接并实现光信号的双向传输,通过分析该光学结构设计原理和光路计算,发现每组透镜中两个透镜焦距之比为 20?50,离轴距离为 4?10mm 范围时,才能保证光信道之间不发生干扰且信号持续传输。

Fiber optic rotary joint(FORJ)is one of passive components,which is used to transmit optical sig- pals from a stationary platform to a rotating platform through a relatively rotating interface.A multi-channel FORJ,by incorporating spatial interconnection and wavelength division multiplexing(WDM)technologies,is proposed and fabricated.It provides high data rate(over GBPS)and hi-directional signals transmission and in- cludes an optical coupling system,isolators and relative WDM components.The insertion loss of this multi- channel FORJ is measured through a light wave multi-meter(LM),while the output spectrum is monitored u- sing the optical spectrum analyzer(OSA).The maximum insertion loss at wavelength window 1310 nm is about 1.55 dB and the insertion loss at wavelength window 1550 nm is less than 1.20 dB.The insertion loss variation due to rotation at wavelength window 1310 nm and 1550 nm is less than 0.28 dB and 0.43 dB,respectively. The test isolation between the 1 310 nm and 1 550 nm optical signals of all outputs is more than 31 dB.This multi-pass FORJ meets the requirements in most applications.
