In the technical designs of the supporting surfaces of machine elements

This paper describes a method for calculating the profile of the star-wheel. Four different curves of various sections of the wheel, corresponding to two cases of the upper and lower rods of the universal carriage are calculated. The results provide data for machining and inspection in production practice.The same method may also be used to calculate various envelops encountered in the machining.

By analysing the air inlet and outlet processes of the piston compressor, this article introdu- ces the methods both for calculating the pressure loss in those processes and for calculating the compressing efficiency. It also demonstrates the advantages by utilizing empirical formula for computing the mechanical efficiency, carries out a checking calculation based on a practi- cal compressor as an example, and expounds ways to raise the piston compressor's efficiency.
