In October 1983, a comprehensive experiment was carried out to investigate the characteristics of turning-point convergencezones and of underwater sound propagation in a deep sound channel in the South China Sea using explosive sound sources.
Presented here is the study on the temporal and spatial distributional pattern of a-coustic parameters as water temperature, salinity, density, sound and deep-water-sound-channel in the Northwest Pacific Ocean (0°-60°N, 100°-170°E) with 5°×5° grid designated as geographic statistical unit.
Because of the coupling between surface channel and SOFAR channel, sound propagation in two, axis underwater channel is complex and calculation of acoustic fields is difficult.
In October 1983, a comprehensive experiment was carried out to investigate the characteristics of turning-point convergencezones and of underwater sound propagation in a deep sound channel in the South China Sea using explosive sound sources. In this paper, the experimental results for the source at depths of 200 m and 500 m are presented. By using the theory on the turning-point convergence-zone and the parabolic approximation, the measured data are analysed. For low-frequencies measured positions of zones...

The MMP is an important method of source localization for detecting a distant underwater target. In this paper, a fast iteration method of mode decomposition which is an effective algorithm is presented. It has the fast convergence speed. Ailer the MMP with the iterative mode amplitade vector, the precisions of range and depth estimation are raised, and the sidelobes are suppressed. This method is used to reduce the length requirement of the vertical array, and has potantial application prospects. With the ...
