In this article, the negative effect of memorizing English vocabulary in Chinese, the usual method used by English language learners in China, is discussed to present the author' s idea that the key to high efficiency in language acquiring is to learn and think in the language itself. The Threshold Hypothesis Theory by Cummings (1979 1984 1987) adds more force to the argument.

从英汉两种语言词汇的对应性出发,借助于卡明斯的门槛假说理论对英词汉记的负面效应进行分析。指出摆脱母语的影响是英语学习高效率的关键,而且要从基础词汇的原始积累开始。否则不仅伤及其目标语语言能力,其母语甚至思维也难免会受到负面影响。

Some linguists, experts in studies of language teaching and foreign language teachers have done a great deal of work in studying the language errors made by target language learners since 1970s. But there remains a lot to do in unveiling the essence of language errors systematically. Following the footprints of the predecessors on target language errors studies, the author has made an attempt to uncover the essence of language errors. Some linguists, experts in studies of language teaching and foreign language teachers have done a great deal of work in studying the language errors made by target language learners since 1970s. But there remains a lot to do in unveiling the essence of language errors systematically. Following the footprints of the predecessors on target language errors studies, the author has made an attempt to uncover the essence of language errors. Language errors are the language knowledge and speech behavior which are not in line with the objective law of fact language under the same network. They are marked by five basic features: objectivity, dual correspondence, time-space conversion, sequence and diversity. The author, awaiting more discussions and comments, also advances that there exists a kind of sub-systematic errors in the language learning process.

自 2 0世纪 70年代至今近 4 0年来 ,国内外语言学家、语言教学研究专家和外语 (语言 )教师对外语学习者目标语语言错误进行了大量的研究和探索 ,但系统地揭示这种语言错误的本质的论述尚属需完善的部分。笔者沿着专家学者对目标语语言错误研究的轨迹 ,尝试性地提出语言错误的本质 :语言错误是在同一关系中与事实语言的客观规律或状况不相符合的语言认识和言语行为 ;语言错误具有客观性、双对性、时空转换性、层次性、多样性等五个基本特征。并进而提出语言学习过程中的系统错误类型里还有一个类型 ,即“准系统错误”,以期更多的讨论和专家的指正。
