This chapter reviews and expatiates two basic processes of beginning and changing of Shanghai city entertainment experienced total nearly 80 years, from port opening in the 1840's to the 1920's, based on simple depiction of relationship between the entertainment and Shanghai city economy flourish, population increase, development of city establishment.
