There is an amplitude limited characteristic in most automatic gain regulators, and there are always a lot of tandem regulators in a carrier communication channel. It is necessary, therefore, to investigate the response of tandem regulators with such limited characteristics. But it is extremely difficult to obtain the response by analytic method.In this paper, the problem is resolved by the following method: First, two sets of differential equations, regulated equations of the first and the other regulators, are found according to reference [1]. Then, in the time domain, the response of each regulator on the chain is calculated, regulator by regulator, from the first to the end.In so doing, the required calculations are obviously tremendous. So it is convenient to calculate by means of a computer. The Adams-Moulton method of multistep prediction-correction is used for numerical solution, and the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method is used for calculation of initial value.In this paper, relations between the number of tandem regulators, linear ranges and overshoot are obtained. Both the accuracy and speed of calculation are satisfactory.

With full consideration of the characteristics of PLC circuit, TXT-600 A Four-Phase Modulation MODEM using upper AF side-band has been develo-ped. This paper makes a brief description of the determination of its main to chnical specifications by calculation and the reasoning to select this type of modulation.

The frequency domain method is used to measure the effective QL of a circuit. This paper derives the formula to measure the effective QL of the regeneration subearrier cirouit by use of the time domain method, this method is simpler and easer than the frequency domain method.
