As one of the most important parameters to evaluate the quality of services of Internet,Internet end-to-end delay has become a research focus in recent years.But the Internet end-to-end delay can not be obtained easily because the clock of the sending endpoint is always nonsynchronous with that of the receiving one. This paper develops a new method which bases on the synchronous method of GPS receiver to measure the Internet end-to-end delay directly. As one of the most important parameters to evaluate the quality of services of Internet,Internet end-to-end delay has become a research focus in recent years.But the Internet end-to-end delay can not be obtained easily because the clock of the sending endpoint is always nonsynchronous with that of the receiving one. This paper develops a new method which bases on the synchronous method of GPS receiver to measure the Internet end-to-end delay directly. Compared with the conventional method which gets the delay indirectly by measuring the round-trip delay time,the new one discussed in this paper not only solves the nonsynchronization between the clocks belonging to different systems directly, but also improves the precision of the result of the measurement. The results show that this method works well.

端到端时延是评估Internet的网络性能的重要参数之一,也是近年来的研究热点。由于端到端时延的测量存在收发时钟不同步问题,所以常用的网络时延测量方法大多是通过测往返时延来间接求得端到端时延,测量结果的误差较大。文中基于GPS接收机的同步方法设计出网络时延测量仪来测量端到端时延,解决了收发时钟不同步的问题,提高了测量的精度。

Network measurement is the foundation of the network behavior analysis. Internet end-to-end delay is an important parameter of network behavior. Since the clock of the sender is nonsynchronous with that of the receiver, there is large error in the measurement results. This paper develops a new method which keeps synchronous between sender and receiver by GPS receiver to measure the Internet end-to-end delay directly. The method efficiently improves the precision of the measurement.

网络行为测量是网络行为分析的基础,而端到端的时延又是网络行为测量中一个重要的参数。但是由于传统的端到端测量存在时钟不同步问题,因此测量的误差较大。文中采用基于GPS接收机的同步方法设计出网络时延测量仪来测量端到端时延,解决了收发时钟不同步的问题,提高了测量的精度。
