The coefficient F_(12) of the Tsai-Wu theory, given in reference[7], is calculated by using the off-axis positive shear strength of a specially designed 45°fiber reinforced circular specimen which is loaded along 0°. To the best of the authors' knowledge, such specimens have not been employed for investigating strength criterion of composites related to uniform plane stress field. The theoretical curve (off- axis positive shear strength) according to Tsai-Wu theory, obtained by using the F_(12) value determined in this paper, agrees quite well with experimental data. The theoretical curves (in-plane shear strength) according to Norris and Tsai-Hill theories agree quite well with experimental data.
