In the present study, the toxicity of "San Chi" for the mice was found to be very low, when an aqueous extract was administered orally to mice at the dosage of 40g/kg no death was observed. Subcutaneous injection of 0.1ml egg-white, formalin, or dextran into the hind paw of normal rats caused a marked swelling of the joint, which subsided very slowly. When rats were given "San Chi" aqueous extract at the dosage of 10g/kg through a stomach tube, the swelling of the hind paw was inhibited significantly, and subsided more rapidly. In addition, it was found that "San Chi" exerted an inhibiting effect on the rat granuloma induced by cotton-pellet. On the other hand, in bilateral adrenalectomized rats "San Chi", as a rule, prevented the development of the inflammation induced by formalin. In normal rats "San Chi" did not deplete the adrenal ascorbic acid. However, in fasting normal and adrenalectimized ndce, oral administration of "San Chi" extract pro- duced significantly more liver glycogen deposition than could be accounted for by its suger content. Besides, stress condition such as that during swimming depleted the ascorbic acid content of the adrenals in the rats. However, previous administration of "San Chi" ex- tract exhibited an inhibiting effect on such depletion. In addition, "San Chi" may prolong the survival of rats after adrenalectomy. It appears from these results that "San Chi" possesses adreno-corticohormone-like ac- tivity.

本文报告竹节参(罗汉三七)及大叶三七对大鼠实验性“关节炎”的治疗或抑制作用.口服三七水煎剂10克/公斤对注射鸡蛋白、甲醛、右旋糖酐所引起的大鼠实验性“关节炎”及棉球肉芽肿均有明显的抑制作用,对去肾上腺动物的甲醛性关节炎三七水煎剂仍有治疗作用.无论一次或多次口服三七水煎剂均不能使大鼠肾上腺内维生素C含量降低,也不增加肾上腺重量,表明三七水煎剂不能兴奋垂体——肾上腺系统.三七能增加正常饥饿小鼠和去肾上腺饥饿小鼠的肝糖原含量;大鼠连续服用三七后,对非特异性刺激有抑制作用;亦能延长去肾上腺未成年大鼠的生存时间。实验结果表明,三七水煎剂似具有糖皮质激素样作用,其抗炎作用可能与此有关.

A method of using dextran-Sulfate ( D.S. ) and Catt in combination with poly-aerylamide gel preparative electrophoresis to isolate serum high density lipoprotein ( HDL ) in a pure form was developed. In this method HDL was precipitated by D.S, and Catt from serum freed previously of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL ) and low density lipoprotein ( LDL ) in a form of complex, which can be redissolved in 12% NaCl and reprecipitated by dilution and addition of D.S. and Catt. A method of using dextran-Sulfate ( D.S. ) and Catt in combination with poly-aerylamide gel preparative electrophoresis to isolate serum high density lipoprotein ( HDL ) in a pure form was developed. In this method HDL was precipitated by D.S, and Catt from serum freed previously of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL ) and low density lipoprotein ( LDL ) in a form of complex, which can be redissolved in 12% NaCl and reprecipitated by dilution and addition of D.S. and Catt. The above process was repeated twice. The precipitate was finally dissolved in 0.5M.K2G2O4 solution. After centrifugation an orange coloured supernatant which contained mainly HDL was obtained.In order to prepare HDL in pure form the supernatant was, further separated and isolated by preparative gel electrophoresis and eluted with Tris-glycine buffer.One main peak appeared in the elution profile. The eluates were analysed with agarose gel, polyacrylamide gel and immuno-electrophoresis.Pure HDL was present in the eluent corresponding to the accending side of the peak. Further characterization of the pure HDL solution with electron microscope:the HDL particles were spherical in shape with a diameter of 80 A to 130A.The present paper offers a method of isolation and purification of HDL from serum without ultracentrifugation.

The effect of plasma substitute,pectin from papaya,on blood coagulation was studied by means of thromboelastograph (TEG).We added 1% pectin from papaya (average M W 20000—40000 in normal saline),6% dextran (average M W 70000 in normal saline) and normal saline separately to appropriate volumes of blood from normal adult man to give 10,30 and 50% of pectin,dextran and saline in blood and measured 3 parameters by TEG. Based on thromboelastogram (TEGm) the reaction time (r),coagulation speed (k) and maximal amplitude (ma) were measured and compared.The results revealed that 1% pectin yielded lower reaction time (r) and coagulation speed (k) than those of 6% dextran,but close to normal saline.As to the maximal amplitude (ma) pectin was higher than dextron.In the 50% concentration level,the difference between 1% pectin and 6% dextran with respect to 3 parameters was statistically significant.The experi- mental results showed that the delaying effect of pectin from papaya on blood coagu- lation was much less conspicuous than dextran.It also agreed well with the clinical observations that intravenous infusion of large dose of 1% pectin from papaya to shoc- ked patients did not aggravate the symptom of hemorrhage.

用血栓弹力图仪观察木瓜胶代血浆注射液对正常成年人血液凝固的影响,同时以中分子量右旋糖酐注射液做对照。测得不同稀释度(10%、30%和50%)的两种代血浆在血栓弹力图(TE-Gm)上血凝反应时间(r)、凝固速度(k)和最大振幅(ma)的变化。木瓜胶组的r值和k值二者均比右旋糖酐组为低,接近于生理盐水组;至于ma值则大于右旋糖酐组。当血液稀释度为50%时,两种代血浆的TEGm的r、k和ma值差别均为显著。结果表明木瓜胶代血浆对延缓血液凝固的作用没有右旋糖酐注射液明显。这与临床上输注较大剂量木瓜胶代血浆治疗休克病人时没有发生出血倾向的情况相符。
