Magnetorheological (MR) fluids are materials that respond to an applied magnetic field with a dramatic change in rheological behaviour. The essential characteristic of these fluids is their ability of reversibly changing in milliseconds from free-flowing liquids to semisolids with controllable yield strength when exposed to a magnetic field. Magnetorheological (MR) fluids are materials that respond to an applied magnetic field with a dramatic change in rheological behaviour. The essential characteristic of these fluids is their ability of reversibly changing in milliseconds from free-flowing liquids to semisolids with controllable yield strength when exposed to a magnetic field. Using the rheological effect of these smart fluids, various MR fluid dampers can be built to adjust the damping or stiffness properties of a system. Recently a shear mode MR fluid damper was designed and manufactured, and it was used to the active vibration control of a cantilevered rotor system, and good control effect was achieved. A theoretical model has been proposed in which the additional stiffness of the MR fluid is considered, but this item of stiffness cannot be derived from the Bingham equation. In this paper, the additional stiffness of the MR fluid is cancelled to conform to the Bingham equation; in the process of the simulation for the imbalance response of the rotor system the rotating speed is extended to over the second critical speed, making us understanding the properties of the system in a larger speed range than before. Based on these and some other changes the vibration performance and control of a cantilever flexible rotor system supported on a magnetorheological (MR) fluid damper is re-studied, and the relevant theory and analysis are enriched. It is found from the study that as the Coulomb friction of the damper is increased, the vibration amplitude of the rotor system is decreased near the undamped critical speeds, but is increased in a range between the first and the second undamped critical speeds. In the other hand, as the Coulomb friction ratio increases, the amplitude of the damper bearing is decreased in nearly all speeds, even the bearing is locked up at certain speeds, and range in which the bearing can vibrate is narrowed more and more. This means that the system is transformed from a flexible-supported system to a quasi-rigid-supported system, and the effective stiffness of the damper support is enlarged more and more, so that the damped critical speeds of the rotor system are increased step by step. These analytical results are greatly consistent with the previous experimental result. Based on these characteristics, an on-off control method is proposed finally to suppress the rotor vibration across the two critical speeds and to minimize the rotor vibration in all working speed range. The simulation results show that by the on-off control method the MR damper can effectively suppress the vibration at the critical speeds, and make the rotor system pass the critical speeds smoothly and stably.

对先前提出的理论分析模型进行适当改进 ,用新模型对支承在磁流变液阻尼器上的单盘悬臂柔性转子系统的振动特性和控制技术进行再研究。研究表明 ,随着磁流变液阻尼器的库仑阻尼力的增大 ,系统在无阻尼临界转速处振幅明显下降 ,但在两阶临界转速之间的一定转速区振幅增加 ;同时 ,随着库仑阻尼力的增加 ,阻尼器轴承处的振幅在几乎所有转速时都被减小 ,甚至在某些转速区间该轴承被“锁住” ,而且轴承能够振动的区间越来越窄。这说明转子系统从一个弹性支承系统逐步转化为一个准刚性支承系统 ,阻尼器支承的有效刚度越来越大 ,使得一阶有阻尼临界转速逐渐提高 ,并逐渐接近刚支临界转速。根据这些特性 ,提出通过开关控制抑止转子通过两阶临界转速过程中的振动 ,并使转子振幅在全转速区达到最小。仿真结果表明 ,系统能平稳通过两阶临界转速
