The 32P transport is retarded due to the function of dwarfing inter-stock. The transport of 32P upward is inhibited by the inter stock during the vegetative period, while the transport downward is inhibited during the dormant period. A higher amount of 32P remains in dwarfing interstock. This will affect the absorption of the root system. Significant difference was observed in peroxidase (POD) activities among three kinds of interstock. POD activity in leaf was positive correlation with the tree growth. POD activity in root was negative correlation with the tree or the root growth. Significant difference was observed in catalase (CAT) activities in leaf and root with different kinds of interstocks. Jincheng had the lowest CAT activities in leaf and root.
