This paper deals with some problems relating to the grassland construction in red loamhills in southern China:Selecting proper varieties;Sowing and keeping a full stand of seed-lings;the management and utilization of grassland;and animal production and grasslandconstruction integrated with agriculture and fishery to get comprehensive economical benefit.

江南红壤丘陵区地处中亚热带,夏季高温,伏秋干旱,冬季寒冷;土壤酸、粘、贫瘠,保水能力差;天然植被破坏程度大,水土流失严重.在该地区发展牧草生产具有较强的地域特点,工作难度大.1.在草种选择上,冷季牧草存在越夏问题,热季牧草又存在越冬问题,但又存在两类牧草都能引种成功的有利条件.因此必须选择适宜该地区特定种植环境的生态型草种.可以分别引种抗旱耐热的温带型草和抗寒能力强的热带型草,也应重视优良乡土草种的选择.2.播种保苗问题在这里显得极为重要,应抓好深翻除杂、培肥土壤,重视播时播法,适当加大播量,齐苗及时追肥促进生长等三个环节.3.草地管理和利用问题,草地施肥应注意,建植初期各类肥料的效应是磷>氮>钾,随草地利用年限延长则为氮>钾>磷.4.发展种草养畜,应与发展农、林、渔业有机结合起来,以取得更大的综合经济效益和生态效益.
