Negative transfer of mother tongue is a common phenomenon in English learning. How to avoid this kind of transfer is a subject worth studying. This paper, with the aid of the contrastive analyses method, analyses the phenomenon of negative transfer with regard to three respects: language, mode of thinking and style of writing, Chinese and Western culture. It attempts to discuss the practical teaching strategies in English teaching.

整体式语言涉及语言学、心理学及教育学。对于"整体式语言"的概念,学术界虽然没有达成共识,但承认此概念中基本要素的合理性,并在语言教学中加以运用。采纳整体式语言的观点,在听力教学中融入其他语言技能,并设计体现整体式语言思维模式的公共大学英语听力教学步骤。指出教师可利用整体式语言观的思维模式作好听力教学的准备工作。
