Methods The effect of the antioxidative substances, pyrrolidin dithiocar-bamat ( PDTC), chrysin, dichloroisocoumarin ( DCI), and probucol, on the expression of ICAM - 1 was measured with cell - ELISA. The activation of NF - kB in en-dothelical cell was investigated in a gel shift assay. Results PDTC, DCI and chrysin showed a concentration -dependent inhibition on expression of ICAM - 1, but probucol inhibited ICAM - 1 expression in low dose. Only PDTC inhibited the TNFa - induced activation of NF - kB in endothelial cell. Conclusions The down - regulation of the endothelial cell adhesion molecule expression by antioxidative substances was independent on their effect on NF - kB activation.

Aim:To investigate whether all antioxidants modulate expression of endothelial cell adhesion molecules and whether antioxidants modulate expression of endothelial cell adhesion molecules through regulating NF - κB activation. Objective:To observe the efficacy of 3 month therapy with N acetylcysteine (NAC) on lung function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods:70 patients were randomly allocated to standard therapy plus NAC 600 mg per day (200 mg,t.i.d,P.O) or standard therapy alone over a 3 month period. Conclusion:Oxidative stress plays an important role in the functional status of COPD and antioxidant can be added during therapy.

目的:探讨N-乙酰半胱氨酸(NAC)治疗稳定期慢性阻塞性肺疾病(COPD)患者的疗效。方法:选择70例符合入选标准的COPD患者,将他们分为治疗组(36例)和对照组(34例),治疗组患者除给予常规治疗外,加用NAC每次200mg,每日3次,连用3个月;对照组仅给与常规治疗。经过3个月后观察两组的肺功能的变化情况。结果:治疗3个月后,CPOD组第一秒用力呼气量(FEV1)、用力肺活量(FVC),比治疗后有显著性提高犤分别为(1.0±0.4)L比(1.3±0.6)L、(2.0±0.6)L比(2.4±0.7)L,P<0.05犦,且与对照组治疗后比较有统计学意义犤分别为(1.3±0.6)L比(1.1±0.3)L、(2.4±0.7)L比(2.0±0.5)L,P<0.05犦。结论:COPD治疗中加用抗氧化药可有效改善患者的肺功能。
