In the year of 2000, we begin to construct the Chinese Polar Science Database System(CPSDS). After analysing the factors about actuality of data management,multi resource and multi subject of the data resources, we conclude that how to organize and express the data resources is very important. Standing requirement from the users, administrative support, concise database technology and steady outlay are the key to solve organization of the multi resource. About expressing the data resources, we find that all subject data can be divided into a metadata and a dataset. Thus,it may be possible to set up a conjunction between metadata and dataset. The metadata database can be used as a "search engine" of the CPSDS.

在中国极地科学数据库系统项目建设过程中 ,通过对极地科学数据管理现状以及数据分布情况、数据类型等因素进行分析 ,提出数据资源的组织及其表达形式两个关键问题 ,并进行了研究与探讨。结果表明 ,用户对数据共享的持续需求、顺达的行政支持、明确易行的技术要求以及稳定的经费支持是解决数据资源组织问题的关键 ,在项目实施过程中 ,涉及到数据资源组织问题的解决措施都是立足于对上述 4个方面的思考。针对数据的表达形式问题 ,在数据库系统设计中 ,数据的表达形式研究包括了用户需求分析、数据库结构设计等环节。将基础数据表示为数据集和数据说明 (元数据 ) ,后者通过标准化、格式化后作为元数据库与前者 (数据库 )关联。同时 ,将元数据库从纯粹的数据说明集合扩展成数据库的搜索引擎。在实际开发过程中 ,运用上述设计思路解决了极地科学数据种类多、零散、结构复杂的技术难点

It is a crucial bottleneck of scientific computing performance to organize and manage the large scale scientific data in numerical simulations.Considering the complicated data characters such as multi-dimension,multivariable and time-space correlative,in this paper,a hierarchical data model for numerical computation is presented for scientific data organization so as to share and exchange data better between applications and platforms.By adding the data semantic information,flexible high-level application programming interfaces of accessing data are provided to facilitate ease of use for applications,like numerical computing,visualization and data analysis.The validity of the hierarchical data model for numerical computation is verified by some typical programs applying.Meanwhile,a scientific data management prototype system is designed,in which metadata technique is used for balancing efficiency and easyto-use through integrating high-performance file system and database.

数值模拟应用中大规模科学数据的组织与管理已经成为影响科学计算性能的一个重要瓶颈问题.针对数值模拟计算程序多维、多物理量、时空相关等复杂的数据特征和在应用程序、平台间所存在的数据交换与共享问题,提出了组织科学数据的层次化数据模型;引入数据语义信息实现了有效的数据管理方式,并向科学计算、可视化和数据分析等应用程序提供统一的高层数据访问程序接口;通过典型程序的实际应用,验证了层次化数据组织模型的有效性;同时还设计了一个数值模拟科学数据管理原型系统,利用元数据技术,整合高性能文件系统和数据库管理系统,以期在效率和易用性取得平衡.
