After a careful study of the dependence of the minimal value of the working pressure angle on Z_d and h_a~*, the authors recommend h_a~*=0.6. With the method proposed by the authors, a limiting chart can be easily made, furthermore, the fundamental parameters of gears can be investigated and the design of an involute internal gear pair can be accordingly put into practice.

The feature of this method lies in the fact that it is not necessary to carry on such tedious operations of trial and error as those the previous invetigators used to do.In the paper, the partial derivatives as determinant elements are derived so that the minimum working pessure angle, characterized by the intersection of two transcendental curves can be found out. As an example, we take Z_2=60, Z_d=1- 5 and h_a~* = 0.8, 0.7, 0.6, and caculate the theoretical and the designed minimum working pressure angles respectively, the corresponding modification coefficients can thus be obtained.
