After being widely used in the clinics, it has greatly improved the success rate of complicated retina detachments such as proliferative diabetic retinopathy, proliferative vitreo-retinopathy, giant retinal tears, traumatic retinal detachment and acute retina necrosis with retina detachment.
The data obtained confirm and extend our previous data on the localization of DNA-synthesizing cells in the neural retina and expose the pattern of S-phase cell accumulation after retinal detachment for each proliferation-competent cell population.
Postoperative complications included posterior capsual opacification (7 eyes); secondary glaucoma (1 eye); and retinal detachment (2 eyes).
A 32-year-old patient had marked reduction of visual acuity due to falciform folds of the retina and retinal detachment, and severe neurological abnormality: bilateral pyramidal involvement, fasciculation in all limbs and gait ataxia.
