In English reading process guided by the discourse analysis and schema theory,the key whether the students can comprehend the text is that the students can actively take part in the two-way communication. Applying the reading methods "lead-in" is the effective way to attract the students' interest arouse their appetite for knowledge and improve the teaching quality. Thus it is important to study the design principle and concrete applying methods of the "lead-in" methods.

For many years, the students' capability of English reading has been testing with multiple choice questions in various English exams. Analyzed the existing problems and causes and got correlation between students after-class English reading and their English level; made empirical study and came to the conclusion: Most students are interested in English reading but there still exist some problems. English teachers should give them some proper guide for the purpose of improving their English proficiency.

对课外阅读的理论作了阐述。在所执教的班级中做了一次关于英语阅读活动的调查。选择上海第二工业大学的53名英语专业学生作为研究对象。研究过程使用了问卷调查和面谈两种实验方法。实验了解了学生课外阅读的实际情况,分析了存在的问题和原因,给出了课外英语阅读的时间和英语熟练程度的相关性并得出结论:虽然很多学生都对英语学习感兴趣,但他们的阅读中仍然存在着一些问题。英语教师应该给他们一些适当的指导来提高他们的英语水平。
