This method eliminates need for the articulation of ray and avoids cumbersome analysis of the modes from the perspective of wave optics. It also provides clear and straighforward results.

This paper discusses philosophically several problems in the history of physics concerning the continuous development of scientific truth; (1) the wave theory and the corpuscular theory of light; (2) the Michelson-Morley experiment and the black-body radiation; (3) the establishment of atom model, quantum theory and theory of relativity; (4) the infinite divisibility of matter.

本文依据一个基本假设来建立光波传播空间的传递函数和空间脉冲响应的精确表达式及衍射积分。这一方法较经典的电磁场理论方法和一般傅里叶光学文献中的方法简单明瞭。如此建立衍射式将自动排除 Kirchhoff 衍射理论中边界条件的不自洽性,而得到与自洽的 Sommerfeld 理论相吻合的结果。文章表明,衍射现象唯一取决于光传播空间的特性,而这一特性正是光的波动性的必然结果。衍射现象实际上也是信息在传递过程中通常总会产生一种失真现象。
