The variation of backstream with the operating process of the diffusion pump is studied by means of an electrometer balance and some processes are explained as well. It is discovered that vapour transmission along a circular tube obeys exponentiat decay law L and d here stand for the length and diameter of the tithe respectively; n,n0 indicate the vapour density at L and L = 0 respectively andα signifies the oil vapour condensation coefficient on the wall of the tube. The difference between theoretical deduction and the experimental data is only 11%. The oil vapour condensation coefficient on the collecting probe and the secondary reflection from the backstream beam to the back of the probe are measured.

We have used a nonrefrigerated cadmium trap in a 2-stage glass mercury diffusion pump vacuum system. Improvement on the ultimate vacuum can be effected by decreasing the cadmium trap temperature and utilizing two or more cadmium traps in series as well as through bake-out of the evacuated container. When such measures are put in force, an ultra-high vacuum of 10-9 mm Hg is obtained in our test.

This paper discussed the working process of water-immersed air-tight electric pumps. The saturated steam and the condensed water are considered as the main factors that cause the deterioraton of the insulation. The paper thus pointed out the way of solving the problem of insulation of the water-immersed air-tight electric pumps.

本文研究分析了空气密封潜水电泵的工作过程,认为引起绝缘问题的主要因素是饱和湿度和凝结水,从而为解决这种电泵绝缘问题指明了途径。
