The concentration of the Rhodamine 6G solution in alcohol ia about 5×10-5 mole. Using pumping intensity of about 5×106 W/cm2, the energy conversion efficiency of the pumping beam to dye laser beam is about 50%, and the beam divergence of the laser output is near diffraction-limited. The good quality of the output beam of the new type dye laser is analysed theoretically.

The pulses come from a passively mode-locked Nd glass laser at 1.06um. After expanding and splitting, laser beams produce the noncollinear second harmonic (NSHG) in a LiIO3 crystal. According to the dependence of the duration of the fundamental frequency beam on the half width of the NSHG spatial intensity distribution in our ease, it has been measured that the average duration of the pulse train is (19+2) ps, a sharp peak of 0.4ps being superimposed on a broad background. This setup is of low cost and pratical. Some calculations dealing with the design and operation are given.

This paper reports the measurement result on the pumping thermal distortion of Nd glass rod amplifiers of different sizes with holographic interfernce method. The distortion of active medium reproduction process has been observed. It provides the evidence for selecting operation cycle of the laser system and design parameters.
