This paper introduces the results of high polymer drag reducing tests in brass tubes and fire hose with pump system, with emphasis on the effect of drag reduction in PW30 solutions made by Polyacrylamide (drag reductive effect of which above 70%), its solubility and the ability in resisting shearing force. It points out the evident effeet of PW-30 solution in cyclical systems and for long distance transfer through pipe line.

This paper describes some results of the study of viscous drag reduction in fireengineerng, flexible pipes and jet flow. It mainly deals with: 1) the adoption of PW-30 and PWC drag reduction materials through screening, which were found to be of better kinds with large percentage of drag reduction in low concentration and fine solubility; 2) fundamental data and basic formulae of drag reduction; 3) predictional method of drag reduction in internal flow (e. g. percentage of increase of flow rate, distance of...

It mainly deals with: 1) the adoption of PW-30 and PWC drag reduction materials through screening, which were found to be of better kinds with large percentage of drag reduction in low concentration and fine solubility; 2) fundamental data and basic formulae of drag reduction; 3) predictional method of drag reduction in internal flow (e. g. percentage of increase of flow rate, distance of jet flow, and length of fire hose, etc.) and the principle of optimization of drag reduction; and 4) the field-test of the viscous drag reduction in industrial sectors, which proved that while using 100 ppm PWC we can obtain increments of over 50% of flow rate, and of more than 100% of jet flow distance.
