A generalized variational principle of elastic thin plate is established by using Lagrange multiplier method, applicable to the finite element method. According to this principle, animproved triangular finite element with enforced compatibility is derived. The results obtained by this element show high accuracy and rapid convergence, compared with results obtained by the non - conforming element and the current finite elements.

In this paper a space dynamic analisis of bending-torsional vibrations for cable- stayed girder bridge is proposed.The thin-walled box girder and rigid frame tower are disengaged in beam elements,which are connected at their nodes by the cables. The element stiffness matrix and mass matrix have been derived.As an example, the frequencies and the modes of bending-torsional vibrations of a cable-stayed bridge have been computed for determining its critical wind velocity.Finally the results of computation are discussed....
