This paper first reviews the main achievements in the field of the college English teaching in China, and then explains the guiding principles and main characteristics of practical English teaching. In accordance with the college English teaching situation in Tsinghua University, we have explored a new approach to the reform in college English teaching system through the rearrangement of teaching target, syllabus and testing requirements on the basis of practical teaching.

本文首先回顾了近5年来我国大学英语教学所取得的成就,阐述了“实用性”英语教学的指导思想、基本原则以及主要特征,并根据我校(清华大学)大学英语教学的实际情况,通过调整教学目标、课程设置、考试要求等,探讨了以实用性英语教学为出发点,如何进一步促进大学英语教学体系的改革。

The peer conferencing into Chinese EFL writing class is introduced. In background, EFL teaching situation in my university and the profile of the students whom I teach is provided. An overview of a lesson plan focusing on peer conferencing is presented. To justify this lesson plan theoretically and pedagogically, paradigm shift from product writing to process writing, collaborative learning and the benefits of peer conferencing are discussed respectively.

以测试理论和《大学英语教学大纲》为依据,以教学主体和教材为研究对象,分析宁夏大学《大学英语》三级成就测试作文题库,指出其在内容效度方面存在的三方面问题:(1)考试目的不明确;(2)命题不规范;(3)写作内容与形式不具代表性。提出提高考试命题人员的测试理论知识水平、制订考试规范和组建测试小组等改进建议,进一步建立科学、合理和规范的大学英语测试体系。
