Its cultural aim, its emotional intention and its form of expression--all displayed a tendency towards the regression into tradition. The literature of sad memories in the first years of the new period is the natural continuation of Tian An Men's poetry. Its inner feelings, its consciousness and its language all can be traced to the same origin of the Tian An Men's poetry. The twist and intergrowth of modern awareness and traditional awareness is the most outstanding characteristic of the literary current of this period. It is just this symbiosis of contradiction that led to the birth of the scar--counter thinking literature.
