本文论述高等学校“大学英语”教师的素质问题,认为大学英语教师既要具备“专才”的一技之长,又要像“通才”那样博学多识。兼采两者之长,是他们得以完成最起码的教学任务的最重要的素质。又大学英语教师主要依靠自学提高则是达到“专才+通才”最上乘境界那种博大精深的不二法门,至于自学提高的最关键的问题就是要善用工具书,而所谓“善用”也应包括具有“不尽信、不迷信”的思想准备在内。本文论据主要取自高校“大学英语”课程教学大纲中的教学要求和据此编写出来的教材。

Communicative approaches are superior to others in efficiently cultivating students' communicative language competence. However, communicative approaches find their disability in China's College English teaching process. Investigations show that English teaching in colleges has been misled at different levels to aim at the results of graded tests without considering their own objective realities. To improve such conditions should be based on the studies on the innate character、objective、 surroundings and measures of ELT and learners strategy. Take the college students qualification into consideration, the objective of CET should be a practical one with both sturdy basic language knowledges and broad skills and abilities....

调查表明:目前我省高师大学英语教学缺乏从实际出发,不同程度陷入了英语等级考试的“误区”,教学目标局限于短期行为。要改善这一现状,就要研究外语教学本质特征、教学目的、环境、实施手段以及学习策略等问题。结合师范生素质特点,提出建立我省高师大学英语课程在培养学生具有扎实语言基础前提下的“厚基础、宽口径”的务实教学目标。
