Geometric nonlinear finite element analysis of a new type of transmission tower, a pole_tower made of steel tubes, is carried out. And a software of finite element analysis is programmed with mixed languages of Visual Basic 5.0 and Digital Fortran 5.0. It overcomed the shortcomings of calculation with linear FEM in traditional design, and the result can satisfy the needs of the design of steel tube pole_towers.
