A comparative analysis of tourism texts in Chinese and in English foregrounds three functions both literatures are meant to perform: the directive, the descriptive, and the informational function. Of the trio, the first is central to how the tourism texts work as such and its definition hence remains basically the same whether in Chinese or in English texts. In contrast, the other two merely play auxiliary, add-on roles, and their definition varies markedly between the two languages. These discoveries have significant implications for C-E translation of tourism literature. They dictate that the right strategy for translating Chinese tourism texts into English should be based on three reader-centered principles: 1. striving to achieve adequate equivalence with the source text as far as the directive function is concerned; 2. making proper adjustments to the informational function of the source text to better serve the TL readers' need; 3. adapting the descriptive function of the source text to the TL readers' aesthetic norms.

本文从语篇及语篇功能分析入手,认为汉英旅游语篇分别具有指示功能。信息功能和描写功能,指示功能为主导功能,属语篇的内在功能;后两者为辅助功能,服务于指示功能,属外在功能。通过对英、汉旅游语篇的功能比较,发现两类语篇的内在功能一致,而外在功能在语篇内的体现却存在差异。据此,本文就汉语旅游语篇的英译提供了几点参考:1.以译语读者为中心,实现指示功能的充分“对等”;2.信息功能转换时应以译语读者的需要为根本;3.描写功能的转换中关注译语读者的审美情趣。

The paper analyzes the Chinese tourist text and its English version through a lot of practice and holds that the translation is not a transmission between the two languages but a behavior of cross-cultural communication,among which the understanding and translation of the cultural information is worth noticing.The author puts forward some suggestions for translation and for effective transmission of the cultural information in the tourist text.

语篇翻译已成为国内外众多学者关注的重要课题之一。通过多年研究,他们已取得了令人瞩目的成果,为此领域的进一步探索予以铺垫。但是目前国内针对旅游语篇文化层面翻译研究不够深入。本文试图从语篇入手,结合大量实例对汉语旅游语篇及其英译文进行对比分析,认为旅游语篇翻译不仅是两种文字的简单转换,更是一种跨文化交际行为,其中文化信息的理解与处理值得引起大家注意。笔者就如何有效地传递旅游语篇中的文化信息,提出几种翻译方法:1.释义法;2.增补法;3.删减法;4.改译法;5.类比法。
