To the sense of history knowledge for the people who lived at Dunhuang in the period of The Tang Dynasty and The Song Dynasty is probably not as clear grasped as people nowadays who had acknowledged the idea of history with perspicuity and scientific definition,what Dunhuang masses had learnt for history knowledge from their social living circumstances perhaps has more broad sense and contents.Besides the facts that had happened around them,all of the myth and legendary,folk story and tells and the non-classic history narratives and writings are the history knowledge sources.This is characteristic of historic knowledge structure of Dunhuang mass.The mass knowledge of the history somehow has a close contact with the realistic social life at the time.Therefore,the mass knowledge is not centered round the emperor and the high-leveled officers,or the elite and aristocrats,but the ethical principle and culture of everyday life.It is not important for them to know Whether those historic knowledge correspond with the happening in history,but the correct idea which had embodied in them and further more the spirit they need guide their realistic life in time and in need.
