The tetraphenylarsonium niobium-thiocyanate extraction system was proposed by the authors in 1965[2]. The tetraphenylarsonium niobium-thiocyanate extraction system was proposed by the authors in 1965[2]. This paper gives a detailed experimental description of the extraction system for photometric determination of niobium. A suitable acidity for the extraction is ca. 5M in hydrochloric acid. The color intensity increases with the TPA concentration in chloroform up to about 10~(-2)M and then remains practically constant. A large excess of sodium thiocyanate over niobium has been found necessary to give maximum color formation. When the aqeuous solution is 5M in hydrochloric acid and 0.3 M in sodium thiocyanate, the reaction product in chloroform shows a maximum absorbance at 395 nm, the apparent molar extinction coefficient being 3.42×10~4. Beer's law is obeyed up to ca. 7 ppm of niobium in the chloroform, the optimum concentration range being 2—7 ppm, where the percentage relative error per 1% absolute photometric error is about 3. The effects of interfering elements are discussed.

Some additional commonts on the spectrophotometric determination of niobium as tetraphenylarsonium thiocyanato-niobato, proposed by the authors in 1965, have been given. The shift of absorption maximun of the complox which is dependent upon the Nb/CNS ratio in aqueous phase, has been shown. Experimental observations based on the extraction studies indicatod that more than one complex species was formed. The analytical procedure and the effects of interfering elements have been discussed.

With back extracted sotution the colorimetric determination of niobium come true. The interference from iron may be eliminated by adding ascorbic acid....

本文就高分子胺N-1923对铌的萃取特性进行了研究。证实它是铌的有效萃取剂。在0.5M硫酸介质中的萃取分配系数大于1000,并能被盐酸和酒石酸混合液所反萃,反萃液便于与比色测定相衔接。萃取是在硫酸、酒石酸介质中进行的。铁的干扰是借加入抗坏血酸使还原为低价而消除。文中提供的分析方法可用于各种试样中铌的分离和测定。测定下限为0.001%Nb_2O_5。
