A Series of resins were screened for the adsorption of middle molecular substances(MMS).Five of them were chosen for their effective adsorption of MMS. HP-A3 and HP-A9 resins were used for perfusion of uremic plasma and hemoperfusion of rats with acute renal failure(ARF). We studied the removal of MMS by adsorbent resins with measurement of the total amount of MMS and with the help of Sephadex G-25 chromatography of the plasma. The results showed that MMS could be removed dramatically by HP-A3 and HP-A9 resins....

A Series of resins were screened for the adsorption of middle molecular substances(MMS).Five of them were chosen for their effective adsorption of MMS. HP-A3 and HP-A9 resins were used for perfusion of uremic plasma and hemoperfusion of rats with acute renal failure(ARF). We studied the removal of MMS by adsorbent resins with measurement of the total amount of MMS and with the help of Sephadex G-25 chromatography of the plasma. The results showed that MMS could be removed dramatically by HP-A3 and HP-A9 resins. The total amount of MMS decreased by 49.6% and 36.5% respectively while the peak height unit of MMS decreased by 73.3% and 75.5% respectively by perfusion for 90 minutes of the uremic plasma. The rats with ARF were hemoperfused. HP-A3 resin could remove 11.7% of the total amount of MMS by hemoperfusion for 60 minutes and HP-A9 resin could remove 20.3% and 31.7% of them for 60 and 90 minutes respectively HP-A9 resin was more effective in the adsorption of MMS in vivo, and was of better blood compatibility.HP-A9 resin has good expectation for the treatment of some MMS related diseases.

Without doubt, palygorskite will be easy resolving the problem ofnuclear pollution.
