In this paper, architecture of computer aided fixture design system,rotating part information representation based on feature,the expert system of fixture scheme design and assembly drawing design of fixture are discussed in detail. and the prototype system for special fixture design (SFDS) is developed.
Based on above method, multiple experts can perform distributed design of fixture scheme and the quality and efficiency of fixture design may be improved.
Based on the analyze of process of special fixture design and application situation of fixture CAD technology, this paper presents the structure of fixture CAD System of scheme design by expert system principle and structure design of fixture based on 3D feature modeling. The action of main function modules and the method of knowledge expression of scheme design are also discussed, The models of the fixture components are established by using the technology of feature modeling , and the 3D design of special fixture is realized.
It was indicated that by concurrent designing the welding jigs and the automobile body, the rationality of designing jigs could be increased, design cost could be reduced and the welding quality of products could be improved. Using the design of flexible welding jigs based on jigbase, the efficiency of designing jigs was improved and the cycle of designing and manufacturing jigs is shortened.

Hence we propose a hybrid CBR/RBR method with CBR as its core.

To solve decision making problems in manufacturing process, a co decision making method was described. The network architecture of co decision making and the interface between web application program and the database were presented. A decision making algorithm, the minimum weighted mean square deviation algorithm, was developed with a method to determine the weight of the decision making objective. A web based co decision making approach is applied for fixture set up design.
